Ray Shero set the tone to what kind of team he ultimately wanted when he made his first ever draft pick as Devils' GM.
Zacha has the size, but also is a dynamic up and comer that by the sounds of it, is also down to Earth (I mean coachable).
He came over in 2014 to play with the Sarnia Sting of the OHL to get the feel of the North American game. It was a
learning experience, for sure; between injuries and two illegal hit suspensions, he only saw 37 games. The bright side:
he was nearly a point a game player, anyway.
After he was drafted, he signed his entry level deal, but was returned to the Sting after training camp. This time, he lead
the team in scoring, and saw a round of playoff action for them.
He joined the Albany Devils after his OHL season was over with the plan of seeing some action in the AHL playoffs.
He did, though, get a call to New Jersey for the season finale against Toronto. All he did was register his first two NHL
points of his career.
