Thomson got his call late in the season at a time where it was believed that a physical presence was needed, in
particular for a game against the Flyers.
So as you can probably guess, his game is the physical one, getting into the dirty areas along the boards and in the
slot. He is not known for his offense, but he can get a dirty goal here and there.
That's what he had provided for Albany since he turned pro... that, and a check on Richard Clune of the Marlies so
hard, that they brought in a vacuum cleaner to clean up the broken glass. (I shit you not. It happened in game 4 of
their playoff series in 2016.)
He's also a good defensive player, from what I understand, as well as a good skater. So in theory, he should be able
to handle the NHL game as a lower-line player. The big question is: will he get to the bigs and stick?
