With the system being thinned out of stay-at-home defensemen in recent years, it wasn't a bad move to grab Stollery
during the summer of 2016.

Many consider him to have been a late bloomer, having been a good player for Merrimack College (He served as
captain his senior year, also), but has had better offensive outputs while playing in the AHL with Lake Erie (Avs) and
the San Jose Barracuda (Sharks). In both systems, he had also seen a few games at the NHL level.

So that script was followed again by the Devils. Although he has been less of a factor for the A-Devs offensively, he
did get a call in January while New Jersey were missing Andy Greene and John Moore. Believe it or not, though,
these would be his first 3 NHL points of his career.

Sure enough, he would only stay in the system for the one year. Signings like this is usually for an immediate need,
anyway.
