Olesz had his best years as a Panther, more specifically while playing under Peter DeBoer. He's not gonna light it up,
but he's a capable third line player that'll get you some points and grind it out for you.
I know the Blackhawks traded for him, but I don't think they were ever interested in keeping him on the NHL team.
Whether it was because of their depth or if it was something else, I have no idea. I do know that he played nearly all of
his time in the organization in Rockford of the AHL, and was a compliance buyout by the Blackhawks.
At the time of his signing, I called him a reclamation project. While he did have a good showing in preseason, it didn't
translate as such during the regular season. Thus, he was waived and sent down to Albany after he cleared.
He did have a good showing with the A-Devs in 5 games, but he clearly didn't want to be in the AHL. He had received
an offer to play in Switerland, and he decided that he wanted take it, leading Lou Lamoriello to suspend him, then put
him on unconditional waivers, and upon that clearance, granting him his release.
After finishing the season playing for HC Bern, he returned to his homeland to play for Vitkovice HC, and, except for
15 games back in Switzerland with the Langnau Tigers at one point, has played for them since.
