A lot of people did not like the signing of Niedermayer... And those people admit that it's for personal reasons. (They've
taken to calling him "The other brother.")

Can't keep the past in the past, huh? Seriously, who cares, as long as he's performing well?

And performing well he did. We as hockey fans know of his defensive capabilities: one of the better defensive forwards
in the game. So any offense he puts up is an added bonus, such was the case of the early going that season.

But probably most importantly, it did fill a need at center. It may not have been the second line center that people have
been calling for (Which was expected to go to Elias once he returned from injury.), but you take what you can get.

After the one season with the Sabres, he played a few games for HC Lugano in Switzerland in 11-12. That's where he
would retire.
