Kinkaid only played 2 seasons at Union College in Schenectady, but they were a great 2 seasons. He won a handful
of ECAC honors, including the Ken Dryden Award for the league's best goalie, and Union came to national prominence
during his time there.
It was enough that it got Lou Lamoriello's attention for a pro contract.
Kinkaid's signing, along with draft choices Scott Wedgewood and Max Clermont, gave the organization something it
hadn't had in a while: options in goal for the future.
Kinkaid got a call-up to the big club when Marty Brodeur went down with an injury. He saw his first NHL game on
March 5, 2013 when he came into relief of Johan Hedberg against Tampa Bay.
And ultimately, he would become Cory Schneider's backup for his first full season in the bigs.
