Stats in bold signifies team leader.
Hughes was a journeyman on both the major and minor league levels throughout his career. He had some good instincts
in the offensive zone and a steady defensive game. The makings of a capable top 6 D-man.
Which was the case when he was with the Scouts, as you can see in the stats above.
The Scouts was his fifth NHL team, previously playing with the LA Kings, the Philadelphia Flyers, the St. Louis Blues,
and the Detroit Red Wings prior to the expansion draft. His WHA rights moved around a bit, as well. First, he was
drafted by the New York Raiders. The team moved to San Diego, and he would, too, after he finished the lone season
he played with the Scouts. He would later play with the Birmingham Bulls after the Mariners folded.
Just before the league went bust, the Bulls went bust, so he finished the 78-79 season with the AHL's Binghamton
Dusters. He would play one more season in the CHL before calling it a career.
