Gilbert's pro career started off on the right foot, I guess. Even though he was playing with the Nova Scotia Voyageurs,
Montreal's top farm team at the time, he still put up a strong showing.

That, I'm guessing, what what made him attractive to the Scouts when it came time for the expansion draft. And he did
have a solid first NHL season.

He couldn't mainatin it, though. Even after being traded to the Penguins. As a result, he finished the 76-77 season with
the Hershey Bears. It was there that he salvaged something out of the year, as he got 49 points.

He sat out the following season, then gave it another go, this time with the Cincinnati Stingers of the WHA. It wasn't
working out, and he retired during the season.
