Corrente had been regarded as the top defensive prospect in the Devils' organization for his first few pro seasons. He was
a stay-at-home defenseman that was very aggressive and loved to hit. However, he was no slug when it came to playing
offense, as he also had the speed, the passing skill, and a rocket of a shot from the point.
But what's all this talk about being undersized, Hockey's Future? In hockey, 6-0, 200 is anything but undersized, and he
used all of it to his advantage.
He had been a pro since the 08-09 season after 4 seasons in the OHL. He was sent to Lowell at the conclusion of training
camp and had a good season with the baby Devs, scoring 18 points and tallying 161 PIMs.
Despite a good showing in camp the following year, he was sent to Lowell again, but it was believed that he would get a
shot at the big club anyway at some point. With injuries, that "some point" became November. He practiced with the
Devils a couple weeks before making his debut against the Dallas Stars. He was put at right wing, though, which was,
according to him, the first time he played there since he was 15.
He had no complaints, though. He just went where he was needed.
There was no question that he plays with heart, but I feel that he hadn't raised his game enough to make a permanent
stay in the NHL. And sure enough, since his departure (at least up until the 15-16 season), he's been playing in the A.
In the aforementioned season, he played for the Florida Everblades of the ECHL.
