When word came out that the Devils picked up Brookbank, I gave a blank stare. I had no idea who he was.

That was because he was a career minor leaguer up until then.

I did learn this much once he started suiting up for the Devils: he has some offensive skills (AHL Defenseman of the
Year), has a hard shot from the point that he's not afraid to use, and he's not afraid to drop the gloves. (What western
Canadian is?)

The team got deeper on 08-09, and he was on the outside looking in frequently. He saw time at right wing in the
majority of his games, though. Hey, whatever gets him playing time.

Even trades do that. The Ducks got some good mileage out of him.

After leaving them in 2012, he had played with the Chicago Blackhawks for 2 seasons, one of them being of the
championship kind. (2013)

He would then go to play in Europe, first with Ak Bars Kazan of the KHL, and currently with Lukko Rauma of the
Finnish League.
